Advanced Genetic Technologies and their Digital Applications

This five-day short course for healthcare professionals provides an introduction to genetic research and its use in understanding and treating neuromuscular diseases. You'll learn about genetic testing and research technologies, from classic Sanger sequencing to next generation sequencing and genome wide association studies. You'll consider the uses and limitations of new cutting edge genetic technologies, and how and which gene therapy approaches can lead to clinical applications. The course also includes an introduction into ethical considerations in the context of genetic research and genetic counselling. This course is run by the UCL Institute of Neurology in Queen Square.
