Free films capture life stories of people with dementia

Posted in Industry News on 21st Dec 2020

My Life Films is a charity that uses filmmaking to improve the lives of people affected by dementia.

They create personalised films that capture the life stories of people living with dementia (PLWD) using their photos, favourite music and filmed interviews, giving them a lasting form of reminiscence therapy and a way for their care workers to get to know them quickly. The films improve the mental health and wellbeing of PLWD, and enable better, person-centred care in all settings.

The filmmaking process brings together family and friends to share stories and the films give them a lasting memory of the PLWD for generations to come.

My Life Films have 30 free films for PLWD in Greater London (UK), with filmmaking continuing to take place remotely – funded by the National Lottery Community Fund. Please contact poppy@mylifefilms.org for more information or to register your interest in having a film made.
