As the Comprehensive Stroke Centre for Greater Manchester an exciting opportunity has arisen for several Trust funded training posts in Stroke Medicine at this Teaching Hospital. These posts will be based at the Greater Manchester Neuroscience Centre, at Salford Royal Foundation Trust. This nationally-renowned Stroke Service is at the forefront of developing the Greater Manchester Intergrated Stroke Service to improve care for all residents of the conurbation and offers Hyperacute Stroke Care and 24/7 Thrombolysis for a population of 3.2 million people in a hub and spoke model.
These posts are recognised for Subspecialty Training in Stroke Medicine by the JRCPTB/PMETB. For candidates on National Training Number programmes in Neurology, Geriatrics, GIM, Rehabilitation Medicine, Clinical Pharmacology, Acute Medicine and Cardiology these posts would be recognised for out of programme advanced training and may go towards subspecialty certification in Stroke Medicine.
You will have full registration with the GMC, MRCP and experience in Stroke at either Senior House Officer, Specialist Registrar or Research Level and have recent clinical experience in General Medicine. The posts are temporary for 12 months.

Full Time Consultant in Neurology

Applications are invited for a replacement Consultant in Neurology post based in Ipswich (6 PAs) and Addenbrooke’s (4 PAs).
The Neurology department at Ipswich Hospital is a thriving service with over 2,500 new patients and 3,200 follow-ups seen in outpatients in 2009-10. The successful applicant would join one full-time and two part-time Consultant colleagues, one Staff Grade Neurologist and three Specialist Nurses in Multiple Sclerosis, Epilepsy and Parkinson’s disease in delivering a full range of general Neurology services at Ipswich. During their 4 PAs at Addenbrooke’s they would be expected to contribute to regional specialist Neurology services and participate in postgraduate CME.  The Department at Ipswich is extremely well supported by a full clinical Neurophysiology service, a Clinical Imaging department with comprehensive MRI and CT scanning facilities and access both to inpatient beds on the general ward and a daycase Clinical Investigations Unit. Patients requiring tertiary Neurology services may be transferred to Addenbrooke’s where the postholder would typically remain responsible for their care.
Applicants must hold the MRCP or equivalent and possess or be within six months of obtaining a CCST in Neurology.

This is a new appointment of a full-time substantive Consultant in Neurology and Stroke Medicine. You will be based in Kettering General Hospital, sharing the development of the present neurology and stroke services in the Trust.
You are expected to hold MRCP or equivalent degree and a recognised CCST in Neurology (or be within six months of achieving CCST at the time of the interview), or to have achieved a GMC inclusion into the Specialist Register in Neurology.
Since the stroke component of the post involves an acute on-call rota, you are expected to possess either a CCST in general internal medicine, or to demonstrate equivalent qualification and experience in acute stroke care (e.g. stroke or neurocritical care in Europe or USA). Relevant extra qualifications and accredited subspecialty training in stroke medicine are desirable, but not necessary.

These posts are recognised for subspecialty training in Stroke Medicine by the JRCPTB and the Postgraduate Dean. 
For candidates on National Training Number (NTN) programmes in Neurology, Geriatrics, GIM, Rehabilitation Medicine, Clinical Pharmacology, Acute Medicine and Cardiology this post would be recognised for out of programme training and may go towards subspecialty
